Small Hospital Stay

I can't believe I had another hospital stay and they still don't know whats wrong with me. 1 for my body 0 for doctors. So home I come a change in my medications again. The good part is I take less drugs now than I did 6 months ago. I am MRSA free and have been since 2009 but nobody bothered to inform me until now that I spoke with the infection control director. Something MRSA patients and their families should be made aware of after so many negative results. Its so irritating but that's how the medical administration rolls.

Just Don't Sit There.

There are times when we just need a pick me up and here are some suggestions that you could use to pull you out of the doldrums.

Remember, not everyone is the same and not everything suggested will apply to you. Listen to some music. Pick something that gets you moving. This is a good way to change your mood and maybe you will learn some new dance moves.

Take a class or maybe you have a specialty and you can teach somebody else. See if you can help out at the local public school. "The mind is a terrible thing to waste."

Take a yoga class or self-defense class. It is a good way to exercise your muscles and keep them toned. Doing some exercise that isn't to over exerting is a good way to stay healthy. Just enough exercise to get your circulation moving. Always ask your health care provider before starting any exercise program.

Treat yourself to something that you have wanted like that fabulous sweater or as small as some new incenses and candles.

Spend an afternoon with your parents or grandparents they always enjoy your time with them you may just perk their day up.

Change your day around if you can and go out.  Do something different like going for a walk or seeing a movie. Spend an afternoon in the park reading or people watching maybe you'll even get some fresh air.

Have a long bubble bath or shower just make sure the water isn't to warm since that can effect circulation and make you weak.  Get some extra beauty rest by taking a nap. We all want to look good and a nap won't hurt.  Go to a spa and treat yourself be pampered with a facial and a massage.

Read your favorite book or browse a magazine. Make some of your favorite sweets and share them with your friends. Start an online chat so you can share the ups and downs of the day.

Hire a student to clean up your home, yard or make plans to redecorate a room or your whole house. With a rainbow of bright new colors and time you can delegate each family member to pick a different theme and room.

Cook up all the things you like and freeze them as individual meals. When you have days you don't feel up to cooking, your  family can pick a freeze dinner and pop it in the microwave.

The local library is always a good place to go for a couple of hours or spend the afternoon checking out new authors. You could spend your afternoon just enjoying your favorite hobby or take the time to learn a new one.

Go to a museum or an art gallery, call a friend and ask them to go with you.

Spend the afternoon with your kids and play a game or blow some bubbles.

Prayer or meditation is a good way to reflect. We all have things that we are grateful for write them down and save them when you need to remember what you have to be grateful for.

Write your memoirs or keep a journal. Sometimes these notes will come in handy for doctors' appointments. There is always something to be done don't get stuck in a rut.

If you don't find anything here that you want to do, spend some time writing a list of your own and then just don't sit there go do it!

Making Changes

We never go out of town together anymore because we don't have an accessible vehicle. Renting an accessible van with a driver is not cheap. I have to pay $30 round trip from my home to the doctors in the city.  Going to see my family would cost $130 or more.  I have to rest for a few days just to go to anywhere and rest afterwards too.

I use to take the basics in life for granted until my first brush with death.  I realized my life isn't a dress rehearsal I need to finish whatever God put me here to do.

Living Life 2 with Multiple Sclerosis

Life has changed a lot for my family and I in the last 15 years; we are not what I would call a typical Canadian family.

My husband and daughter do most of the shopping, housework and taking care of our pets.   Some days my husband is both mom and dad to our daughter, those are the days that seem the hardest for me.  They are so alike in many ways they butt heads.

Now after 15 years of arguing with Services for children, Teachers, Principals, Children's Aid, Social workers, finally two psychiatrists diagnosed our daughter with ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety. She also suffered trauma with some of my close calls with death in 2004 and 2008. That is what MS and the complications have done to my husband, my beautiful daughter and the rest of my immediate family and friends.

I feel bad that there isn't a thing I can do to change it.

I thought that sharing on a blog might help those who would like to share their own story  by commenting on Living Life 2.

Welcome to MS and Living Life 2

My life hasn't been easy but who's has been. So here is where I'll share what it was like, what happened and how I deal with things to.  The hardest thing to deal with is how I feel.

A lot of what I have written I've avoided my feelings so now I'm editing those and trying to include how I felt at those times.

I'll share some older articles from MS & Life.com that I've updated.

I have written various articles since

MS and Life.com in 2001.

I am working on some new articles about things that have happened since 2001 for

MS and Living Life 2.
